commits to Bendigo Madison EAGLEHAWK'S own world champion track cyclist, Glenn O'Shea has committed to racing next year's Bendigo International Madison. O'Shea said on Christmas Eve his home town classic was on the "wish list" for his 2014 track campaign. Victorious in the Bendigo International Madison with Leigh Howard in 2008 and '09, O'Shea has not contested the event since a third place finish with long time coach Tim Decker in 2011. "The Bendigo International Madison is a race I always want to do," the 24 year old said of the March classic. "The past couple of years there have been commitments with training camps. "Bendigo is such a great race and it's home. "A world madison title is a big goal, but to have won Bendigo twice, and hopefully more, was an incredible feeling." A team mate for the Bendigo classic is yet to be confirmed. The brilliant all rounder heads to Tasmania on Boxing Day to contest the lucrative track and criterium series. His lead up included the climb at Mount Alexander on Christmas Eve. O'Shea's 2012 13 series in Tasmania included winning the wheelraces at Latrobe, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie. He was the first cyclist to achieve the feat. Top class fields will race on the streets in Latrobe, Devonport and Burnie. The carnivals are the start of what will be a hectic round of track racing for O'Shea at home and abroad. From January 3 he will be at the Australian Institute of in Canberra for a three week training block. Then it's on to the Australian track titles in his now home city of Adelaide. The only track endurance event to elude O'Shea at national title level is the individual pursuit. Next month's campaign at Adelaide's Superdrome includes the teams pursuit and points score. Goals for the world titles in Colombia include teams pursuit, points race, scratch and/or madison. "A lot depends on form and results as to who will contest what event." A silver medallist in the teams pursuit at the London Olympics, O'Shea is also aiming to be on the Glasgow track at next year's Commonwealth Games. Once the Bendigo International Madison is contested, O'Shea will head back to Europe for a second season with An Post Chain Reaction. The team is backed by the Sean Kelly Cycling Academy. "This year was a great learning experience." A highlight was a stage victory and third overall in Ronde L'Oise, a four day tour in France. Later in the season he raced for Garmin Sharp in the two day duel from Antwerp to Rotterdam and back again. "Every tour and one day classic was a challenge. "I learnt a lot about preparation, the sort of training that suits me, and style of racing. Knowing when to conserve energy, when to attack and when to chase is something I am learning all the time."
