Beltway Ballers basketball team turns back Flames The Beltway Ballers U 12 boys basketball team earned a 42 29 victory against the Maryland Flames on Sunday in Underground League play. Donell Diggs led the Ballers with 14 points, while Alante Caesar and James Strickland Jr. each had 10 points. The team, based in Laurel and Largo, improved to 4 1 with the victory and returns to action on Sunday. The College Park 65 pound AA football team split its two most recent games, dropping a 6 0 decision to Lanham on Oct. 5 and shutting out New Carrollton, 20 0, on Friday. The Hornets recovered two turnovers and held the ball for the entire third quarter against Lanham, but couldn get into the end zone. Lanham scored on a 20 yard bootleg play with 19 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter for the game only points. Greg Harris, Tayun King and Jalen Broome each had touchdown runs against New Carrollton. Tory Doby, Isaiah Elam, Devonte Foster, Paul Guay, Trey Mebane, David Rodriguez, Brandon Scott, TreMayne Whitaker Brown and Mark Yde made contributions on the offensive line and on defense.
