Box of Wine Costume I sketched out the basic structure of my box in my notebook to start. It is a really simple design. Dimensions of Sides (5 sides: front, back, side 1, side2, top) Front and Back: 20" x 24" Sides: 16" x 24" Top: 16" x 20" Dimensions of Cutouts: to make this as easy as possible I cut out 3 pieces of cardboard (1) Top: 16" x 20" (2) Front and Side 1: 36" x 24". You will bend this piece parallel to the 24" side, so there will be a bend along the 36" side making one side of the bend 16" x 24" (side 1) and the other side 20" x 24" (3) Back and Side 2: 36" x 24". You will bend this piece parallel to the 24" side, so there will be a bend along the 36" side making one side of the bend 16" x 24" (side 1) and the other side 20" x 24" Arm Hole Cut Out Cut a 9.25" diameter hole in the center of the Top piece. Cut a 5.25" diameter hole in the center of the Side pieces (16" side of the bended cardboard) that is approx. Attach the sides that are touching with tape to temporarily hold them in place. Hot glue the taped sides together (remove tape when you do this). Using a glue gun, glue all the way down the sides on the inside AND outside of the box. Form maximum durability I added some support to the corners with extra pieces of cardboard. See the last two images below. I adhered the supports using a glue gun, then reinforced it using a staple gun. CONGRATS TO: He11uvaCook for winning the BOX OF WINE CHALLENGE I want to thank everyone who participated! I really impressed with how your costumes came out and SUPER flattered that you liked the costume enough to make it! This definitely inspired me to start running more challenges like this on other projects. Because all the entries were so awesome I giving everyone a 1 year pro membership! You will receive a PM letting you know how to redeem your pro membership. I included some pictures of my friend Alana wearing the box of wine I made on Halloween night. You can see me in some of the pictures (I Xena Instructable coming soon). I am not too artistically inclined and had some issues. But i was a huge hit around the neighborhood. I have had requests to wear it every year. I may install a cup holder. Also, i placed the spout on the side to make it more authentic, so as not to make women uncomfortable and because there was already a hole in that side. I heard a lot of costume ever and your leg smells like wine I may be box o9f wine guy and box of wine guy Maybe I will rent me out for weddings. I actually had a few people ask where they can buy a box of wine that size. I mentioned this little project at work and they allowed me to print it on our 4 foot plotter in high res full color on beautiful paper! I mounted it to foam core w/ spray adhesive, then taped it to the shoulder mounts! I cut a hole in the front for the spigot, then hung the box o wine from my neck w/ a luggage strap! I would advise removing half of the wine from the box to lighten the load on your neck because my neck was killing me the next day! Other than that, the costume was a huge hit! We now planning a Tour de Franzia Party wherein this costume will be worn while we play Slap the Bag, and drink from a wide selection of the World Most Popular Wine! Note: I recessed the sides of the box so that I could bend my arms at the elbows because the front is just larger than 30 X 30 inches. I couldn even reach my own spigot, but people didn hesitate (much) to serve themselves!! What a blast this costume was!!I have received lots of great feedback and messages from people who want to make this costume!! So I am running a challenge for anyone who plans on making this costume for Halloween. All you need to do is COMMENT on this Instructable with an IMAGE of you WEARING YOUR VERSION OF THIS COSTUME and a SMALL BLURB about how you put this costume together and some stories on the reactions you got when you wore it. PRIZES EVERYONE who enters will receive a free 3 month PRO MEMBERSHIP. One lucky winner chosen by me will receive an Instructables Prize pack which includes: Instructables t shirt, 1 year pro membership, and Instructables stickers and patch.
